CeramicNature produces rectangular breeding caves in 3 different sizes and in the colors red and brown.

• Medium rectangular cave: 11 x 4 x 3.5cm.
• Medium-large rectangular cave: 11.5 x 5 x 3.5cm.
• Large rectangular cave: 15 x 5 x 4.6cm.

These rectangular breeding caves are handcrafted in our own workshop in the Netherlands. They are available in 3 different sizes, in the colors red (terracotta) and brown. Due to their angular shape, the rectangular caves are perfect for stacking. All CeramicNature breeding caves are made of ceramic, which is safe for humans, animals, and the environment. The caves are open at the front and closed at the back.

Aquarium

Rectangular breeding caves are used in breeding various L-numbers (Armored Catfish) and serve as ideal hiding spots for other crayfish, shrimp, loaches, etc. L-numbers use breeding caves to deposit their eggs, which are often guarded by the male until they hatch.

For breeding, we recommend using caves in multiple shapes and sizes so that the L-numbers can choose the ones they prefer. In addition to rectangular caves, we also offer round caves, D-shaped caves, triangular caves, XXL caves, catfish caves, and mix color caves. L-numbers tend to choose caves that are not much larger than themselves, so please consider this when making a purchase. Try placing the caves in different flow directions, as the fish will appreciate this. If you’re not breeding with fish, caves also serve as excellent hiding spots for loaches, large crayfish, large shrimp, catfish, etc.

L-Numbers 

• The medium rectangular cave is suitable for smaller L-numbers up to 12 cm, such as the L046, L102, L129, L136, L144, L181, L199, L201, L236, L260, L262, and L397.
• The medium-large rectangular cave is suitable for wider L-numbers such as the L134, L144, multiple ancistrus species, and the L397.
• The large rectangular cave is suitable for L-numbers up to 16 cm, such as the L066, L070, L144, L201, L204, and L333.

Terrarium

Rectangular breeding caves can also be used as hiding spots for smaller reptiles and amphibians such as frogs and small geckos. Because ceramic is porous, it absorbs moisture and heat, making it perfect for use as a moist or warm hiding spot.

Sustainable Ceramic

Our ceramic is 100% safe for humans, animals, and the environment. The color of the rectangular breeding caves is baked into the ceramic, ensuring it lasts a lifetime without fading.

Additionally, the caves are very easy to clean if algae have grown on them, for example. Cleaning can easily be done with a soft sponge and warm water.
