Breeding Cave Medium D
Ceramic Nature makes the medium D breeding cave in brown and red colours.
- Medium D breeding cave: 11 x 4 x 3 cm
The D-shaped breeding caves are handmade in our workshop in the Netherlands. These breeding caves are specially designed for the L46 (Hypancistrus zebra). The shape is made so that the L46 has already been bred many times in the medium D breeding caves. The round caves are available in red (terracotta) and brown. The caves are open at the front and closed at the back.
Stacking Plates
For stacking the breeding caves, we recommend the stacking plates. These are available in 3 sizes and in the colours terracotta red, brown, and mix colour. These stacking plates are perfect for smaller enclosures as they allow you to place more breeding caves and thus offer more choice for the fish.
- Stacking plate small: 14.5 x 12 x 5 cm - 2 breeding caves underneath and 1 breeding cave on top
- Stacking plate medium: 22 x 12.5 cm - 3 breeding caves underneath and 2 breeding caves on top
- Stacking plate large: 32 x 12.5 cm - 4 breeding caves underneath and 3 on top
Aquarium
The medium D caves are used in the breeding of various L-numbers (Harness catfish), and are ideal hiding places for other catfish, lobsters, shrimps, botias, kuhli, etc. Harness catfish (L-numbers) use breeding caves to deposit their eggs, often these are then guarded by the male until they hatch.
For breeding L numbers, we recommend using several shapes and sizes so that the L numbers can choose which one they like best. In addition to round caves, we also have rectangular caves, round caves, triangle caves, XXL caves, catfish caves, and mix colour caves. L-numbers will choose a cave not much bigger than themselves, so take this into account when buying. Also, try to place the breeding caves in different flow directions, as the fish will appreciate this. If you don’t want to breed fish, caves are also very fine hiding places for botias, large crayfish, large shrimps, catfish, etc.
L Numbers
- The medium D cave is suitable for small L numbers up to 12 cm, such as Bristle Nose Ancistrus, L002, L015, L046, L104, L129, L136, L144, L340, L397, L400, L411, etc. The L046 zebra pleco is bred by several breeders in our medium D, round caves, and catfish caves XS.
Terrarium
The medium D breeding caves can also be used as hiding places for smaller reptiles and amphibians such as frogs and small geckos. As ceramic is porous, it absorbs moisture and heat, making it perfect for use as a moist or warm shelter.
Durable Ceramic
Our ceramics are 100% safe for humans, animals, and the environment. The breeding caves have a long lifespan and are handmade from ceramic. As the colour is ingrained in the clay, the colour will never disappear. This also makes the breeding caves easy to clean. Cleaning is easy with a soft sponge and warm water.
