    Rectangular Breeding Caves

Ceramic Nature makes the rectangular breeding cave in 3 different sizes and in the colour red and brown.

    • Breeding cave medium rectangle is: 11 x 4 x 3.5 cm.
    • Breeding cave medium-large rectangle is: 11.5 x 5 x 3.5 cm.
    • Breeding cave large rectangle is: 15 x 5 x 4.6 cm.

The rectangle breeding caves are handmade in our own workshop in the Netherlands. They are available in 3 different sizes, and in the colours red (terracotta) and brown. The rectangle breeding caves are perfect for stacking due to their angular shape. All Ceramic Nature breeding caves are made of ceramic, which is safe for humans, animals, and nature. The breeding caves are open at the front and closed at the back.

    Aquarium

The rectangle breeding caves are used in the breeding of various L-numbers (Harness catfish), and are ideal hiding places for other crayfish, shrimps, botias, kuhli, etc. Armoured catfish (L-numbers) use caves to deposit their eggs in, these are often guarded by the male until they hatch.

For breeding, we recommend using the caves in several shapes and sizes so that the L-numbers can choose which one they like best. Besides rectangular breeding caves, we also have round breeding caves, D-shape breeding caves, triangle breeding caves, XXL breeding caves, catfish caves, and mix colour caves. L-numbers will choose a burrow not much bigger than themselves, so take this into account when buying. Also, try to place the breeding cave in different flow directions, as the fish will appreciate this. If you don’t want to breed fish, caves are also very fine hiding places for botias, large crayfish, large shrimps, catfish, etc.

    L-numbers

    • The medium rectangular cave is suitable for smaller L-numbers up to 12 cm, such as L046, L102, L129, L136, L144, L181, L199, L201, L236, L260, L262, and L397.
    • The medium-large rectangle cave is suitable for wider L-numbers such as the L134, L144, several ancistrus species, and the L397.
    • The large rectangle cave is suitable for L-numbers up to 16 cm, such as L066, L070, L144, L201, L204, and L333.

    Terrarium

The rectangle breeding caves can also be used as hiding places for smaller reptiles and amphibians such as frogs and small geckos. As ceramic is porous, it absorbs moisture and heat, making it perfect for use as a moist or warm shelter.

    Durable Ceramic

Our ceramics are 100% safe for humans, animals and the environment. The breeding caves have a long lifespan and are handmade from ceramic. As the colour is ingrained in the clay, the colour will never disappear. This also makes the breeding caves easy to clean. Cleaning is easy with a soft sponge and warm water.
