Breeding Caves Round
Ceramic Nature makes the round breeding caves in 4 different sizes and 2 different colours.
- Breeding cave round small: 9.5 x 4 x 3 cm
- Breeding cave round medium: 12 x 5 x 4 cm
- Breeding cave round large: 14.5 x 6.5 x 4.7 cm
- Breeding cave round Xlarge: 19.5 x 7.8 x 6 cm
The caves are handmade in our workshop in the Netherlands. All Ceramic Nature breeding caves are made of ceramic, which is safe for humans, animals, and nature. The breeding caves round are available in 4 different sizes, in the colours red (terracotta) and brown. The breeding caves are open at the front and closed at the back.
Stacking Plates
To stack the caves, we recommend the stacking plates. These are available in 3 sizes and in the colours terracotta red, brown, and mix colour. The stacking plates can be used with the breeding caves small, medium, and large.
- Stacking plate small: 14.5 x 12 x 5 cm - 2 breeding caves underneath and 1 breeding cave on top
- Stacking tray medium: 22 x 12.5 cm - 3 laying dens underneath and 2 breeding caves on top
- Stacking plate large: 32 x 12.5 cm - 4 caves underneath and 3 on top
Aquarium Use
The caves are used in the breeding of various L-numbers (Armoured catfish) and are ideal hiding places for other catfish, lobsters, shrimps, botias, kuhli loaches, etc. Armoured catfish (L-numbers) use breeding caves to deposit their eggs, which are often guarded by the male until they hatch.
For breeding L-numbers, we recommend using multiple shapes and sizes so that the L-numbers can choose their preferred burrow. In addition to round breeding caves, we also offer rectangular breeding caves, D-shape caves, triangle dugouts, XXL dens, catfish caves, and mix color caves. L-numbers will choose a breeding cave not much larger than themselves, so please consider this when purchasing. Also, try to place the caves in different flow directions, as the fish will appreciate this.
If you do not want to breed fish, these caves also make excellent hiding places for botias, large crayfish, large shrimps, catfish, etc.
L-Numbers
- Round small breeding cave: Suitable for small L-numbers up to 10 cm such as Bristlenose Ancistrus, L002, L015, L046, L104, L129, L340, L400, L411, etc. Also suitable for young L-numbers and small crayfish/shrimps.
- Round medium breeding cave: Suitable for L-numbers up to 12 cm such as L046, L102, L129, L136, L144, L181, L199, L201, L236, L260, L262, and L397. The L046 is bred by several breeders in our small and medium caves. Also suitable as hiding places for crayfish, shrimps, catfish, etc.
- Round large breeding cave: Suitable for breeding L-numbers up to 16 cm such as L066, L070, L144, L201, L204, and L333. Proven effective in breeding difficult L-numbers. Also suitable as shelters for lobsters, shrimps, catfish, etc.
- Round Xlarge breeding cave: Suitable for L-numbers up to 18 cm such as L070 and L264.
Terrarium
The round breeding caves can also be used as hiding places for smaller reptiles and amphibians such as frogs and small geckos. As ceramic is porous, it absorbs moisture and heat, making it perfect for use as a moist or warm shelter.
Durable Ceramic
Our ceramics are 100% safe for humans, animals and the environment. The breeding caves have a long lifespan and are handmade from ceramic. As the colour is ingrained in the clay, the colour will never disappear. This also makes the breeding caves easy to clean. Cleaning is easy with a soft sponge and warm water.
