CeramicNature produces the medium D-shaped breeding caves in the colors brown and red.

• Medium D-shaped breeding cave: 11 x 4 x 3cm

The D-shaped breeding caves are handcrafted in our workshop in the Netherlands. These caves are specially designed for the L46 (Hypancistrus zebra). The shape has been carefully crafted, and successful breeding has been observed with the L46 in the medium D-shaped caves. The caves are available in the colors red (terracotta) and brown. They are open at the front and closed at the back.

Stacking Plates

For stacking the caves, we recommend using stacking plates. These plates are available in 3 sizes and in the colors terracotta red, brown, and mix color. These stacking plates are perfect for use in smaller tanks because they allow for more caves to be accommodated, providing more choices for the fish.

• Small stacking plate: 14.5 x 12 x 5cm – 2 caves below and 1 cave on top
• Medium stacking plate: 22 x 12.5cm – 3 caves below and 2 caves on top
• Large stacking plate: 32 x 12.5cm – 4 caves below and 3 caves on top

Aquarium

The medium D-shaped breeding caves are used in breeding various L-numbers (Armored Catfish) and serve as ideal hiding spots for other catfish, crayfish, shrimp, loaches, etc. L-numbers use breeding caves to deposit their eggs, which are often guarded by the male until they hatch.

For breeding L-numbers, we recommend using caves in multiple shapes and sizes so that the fish can choose the ones they prefer. In addition to the D-shaped caves, we also offer round caves, rectangular caves, triangular caves, XXL caves, catfish caves, and mix color caves. L-numbers tend to choose caves that are not much larger than themselves, so please consider this when making a purchase. Try placing the caves in different flow directions, as the fish will appreciate this. If you’re not breeding with fish, caves also serve as excellent hiding spots for loaches, large crayfish, large shrimp, catfish, etc.

L-Numbers

• The medium D-shaped cave is suitable for small L-numbers up to 12cm, such as the Bristlenose Ancistrus, L002, L015, L046, L104, L129, L136, L144, L340, L397, L400, L411, etc. The L046 zebra pleco is bred by various breeders in our medium D-shaped caves, round caves, and catfish caves XS.

Terrarium

The caves can also be used as hiding spots for smaller reptiles and amphibians such as frogs and small geckos. Because ceramic is porous, it absorbs moisture and heat, making it perfect for use as a moist or warm hiding spot.

Sustainable Ceramic

Our ceramic is 100% safe for humans, animals, and the environment. The caves have a long lifespan and are handcrafted from ceramic. Because the color is baked into the clay, it will never fade. This makes the caves easy to clean. Cleaning can easily be done with a soft sponge and warm water.
